about

Gems from the Third Ear catalogue selected and re-imagined by Red Rack'em, XDB, Lorca Music and Morphosis' Upperground Orchestra. Ibex by Red Rack'em; Benjamin Brunn by XDB; Pirahnahead by Lorca Music; Theo Parrish by Upperground Orchestra.

Ibex's Spiritual War from Detroit Beatdown Vol2 ep3 is one of Red Rack'em's all-time favourites, so when asked to remix a Third Ear track of choice, this was it. Danny Berman retains the urgent, almost psychotic feel of the original with more of a contemporary bass sound.

Benjmain Brunn's No Kick with a spoken vocal by Diamondancer was XDB's choice. XDB give the track a heavyweight kick and bass, replacing the original's skipping groove. Halfway through the track mutates and gets even deeper.

Lorca Music's remix of Recast's Consensual on Third Ear from 2011 turned more than a few heads. So he was an easy choice for this project. He chose Pirahnahead's Self-Conscience from the NGTVNRG ep and has taken an already very strong track and made into something equally distinctive.

Rabih Beaini aka Morphosis was already thinking about taking Theo Parrish's Falling Up and jamming on it with his live band project, Upperground Orchestra, when we approached him to re-imagine a Third Ear track. Recorded live in Italy this summer, this is a tight jam.
